About Scitrino

The value of research should flow back to its authors.

Our purposeScitrino is an open scientific publishing platform: free to submit to, free to read and open to the world. A single publication fee of £1,000, charged only once a manuscript is accepted for publication, funds the platform, and part of every fee goes back to the paper’s authors.

Open access should not come with a paywall

For too long, researchers have supplied the ideas, the writing and the peer review, only to face expensive publishing charges or see their work placed behind subscription barriers. Scitrino rejects that bargain. Readers pay nothing to access and use the work. Authors pay nothing to submit or to go through peer review.

Our digital-first model is funded by one transparent publication fee of £1,000 per manuscript, charged only when a manuscript is published and invoiced to the author’s institution. There are no submission fees, subscriptions or paywalls.

One clear price to publish

The usual publishing equation asks researchers to fund the system at every turn: through subscription budgets, access fees and article processing charges. Scitrino asks for one thing only: a publication fee of £1,000 per manuscript, charged only once it is accepted for publication and invoiced to your institution. Submission, peer review and reading are free.

This is the heart of Scitrino: scientific authors should not merely supply the value. They should share in it.

Sound science is worth publishing

We assess manuscripts on the strength of their methods, analysis and scientific integrity — not whether a result appears fashionable, dramatic or commercially attractive. That means space for negative results, replications, incremental advances, niche questions and ambitious multidisciplinary research.

When valid evidence enters the record, science gets stronger. Scitrino is designed to make that record more complete.

Built to change the scale of publishing

We are building a lean, high-volume publishing ecosystem for researchers everywhere. AI-assisted editorial operations, automated checks and streamlined peer-review workflows reduce administrative friction so rigorous work can reach readers faster, without compromising standards.

This is not a smaller version of the old model. It is an invitation to build a better one together.

Authors get paid

Legacy publishing houses have spent decades charging researchers and institutions extraordinary fees for work scientists themselves create, write and review. Scitrino shares the value instead: your institution pays the publication fee, and Scitrino pays part of that revenue to the paper’s authors.

Each published paper earns 100 points, shared equally between its authors, with a double share for the lead author. Points are frozen for six months after the paper goes live, then paid out monthly. Signed-in authors can follow every point in their Earnings tab.

We publish the monthly author pool, the value of a point and the total paid, so anyone can check that we keep this promise. See how authors are paid.
